Yorkley Playgroup 30-1-2015
(January 2015) – Forest of Dean Lions Club donate £800 towards the Yorkley Playgroup Garden Project
“We (Yorkley Playgroup) have a small area of land adjacent to our building that we are hoping to be able to convert into a sensory garden for our children to play, explore and learn in. Included in this we are hoping to have some sensory planting schemes together with a decked story time area with a swing, a sunken sand pit, a mud digging patch with a mud kitchen, some bug hotels and some raised beds in which the children can practice growing flowers, herbs and vegetables as well as simply digging in. We also hope to incorporate various sensory elements into the surrounding fencing such as a marble fence, blackboard areas for chalking and a music wall”
“This area will give our children a much needed safe outdoor environment which they could have access to at all times throughout the day (something which is not possible at the moment), somewhere they can play and explore, that will offer an alternative learning space for them and an environment they may not have access to at home, all of which is hugely important in their early years. …”
