The Forest of Dean Lions Club ran the first Forest Champions Awards in April 2022. The awards celebrate and recognise the efforts of individuals and groups within our area.
The next awards will be in 2024.
The new Categories will be announced later.
The 2022 Award Categories were:
Outstanding contribution to the Community Award
Celebrating and recognising the efforts of individuals within the area for their contribution in bettering the lives of others e.g. lollypop ladies, postman, milkman etc.
Community Group Award
Celebrating and recognising the efforts of community groups within the Forest for their for their contribution in bettering the lives of the people they serve e.g. youth groups, elderly lunch clubs etc.
Young Achiever Award
Celebrating and recognising the efforts of particular young individual within the community (Age 18 and under)
Lifetime Achievement Award
Dedicated to someone who has founded or dedicated their life’s work to a good cause or organisation.
Celebrating and recognising and individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty within the Forest.
Innovative Educator Award
This award recognises & celebrates the member of staff or team within an educational setting for their innovative ideas in delivery and dedication to the education of others.
This could be a head teacher, teacher, teaching assistant, learning support worker, early year’s practioner etc.
This award acknowledges the fantastic contribution individuals make within health care settings; this can range from specialists within their field to HCA’S, activities coordinators or domestic staff.

The awards were presented at the Speech House on 18th March 2022. The evening included a dinner, the presentations and a charity auction. Read the report here.
